I can't remember the last time I updated this. Obviously, if I was talking about Silver Hollow, it's at least been a year, maybe two?

Anywho, I came on this page after months of neglect because tonight I had a fit of inspiration. I haven't dedicated time to sketching like my old art professor always encouraged. Not only did he wear a Pink Floyd hat to class every day, but he was adamant about keeping a sketchbook on your person at all times. Cause, you know, you never know!

Obviously I would be a lot better today if I had followed his advice. Tonight reminded me of that art class. Working on sketch after sketch of whatever he picked out for us that day. I was rusty at first, but then my fingers started remembering. Hop over to my pastels folder to check the results out :)

Silver Hollow

Hey everyone! Just in case you didn't already know, I'm primarily an Indie author :) If you would like to purchase Silver Hollow, it's free at the moment via Kindle Select, at least until Friday! Here's the link: www.amazon.com/Silver-Hollow-e…

Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions! I'm going to post the first chapter here as well, but feel free to come by my blog for more updates :)

Official Blurb-

Amie Wentworth writes paranormal romances, not because she is looking for a degree on ectoplasm, but because she's got bills to pay. Ever since her parents' car crash, she has been led a reclusive life and trusted books more than people. Not even a letter from her long-lost uncle, begging her to visit, gives Amie incentive for anything other than ire – until she is stabbed in an alley and brought back to life by a mysterious stranger.

After crossing the Atlantic to her father's homeland, Amie is dragged into the very sort of tale she is used to selling. Silver Hollow is a place of ancient traditions and supernatural dangers, where everything is the opposite of what it seems and few escape sane.

Being a believer in the corporeal, she is determined to root out the logic behind the unexplained. Never mind the possibility she might be a part of it, or the fact her dearly departed dad left her with an inheritance she can't return. To make matters worse, the man who saved her life keeps turning up and her would-be-murderer is still at large.

Amie decides to throw herself into the world Uncle Henry has crafted for her. He teaches her the tricks of the trade and she tries to ignore the fact that his Gothic home and she are slowly changing. But when she comes face to face with the ugly truth, will she too be sucked into her father's madness? Or will she discover that madness is just another name for honesty?

Hope to hear from you!

Jenn :)

I've been playing around with photoshop a bit for fun, and to test out some of the different features. It's all new to me, as I've always been a traditional artist. But I've always loved taking photos as well. While I don't claim to have the talent of some, I hope you enjoy my take on ordinary things. :D

Fresh Oils

2 min read
I haven't updated this journal in a shameful amount of time. Sorry for the long absence. Though I'm not certain how big of a following I have. I'm not exactly known for my artwork lol, just the writing for now.

It's been weeks since I picked up a pencil or piece of charcoal to sketch anything. But I'm ready to start dipping into that part of my artsy brain so be prepared!

My best friend's getting married and I promised her a painting years ago. So of course I wait until something really important to make it for her lol.

I'm going to start making concept sketches this week and go from there.

Ooh! But I'm super stoked about finding a bunch of oil paints at Hobby Lobby for two bucks a pop! They may be little tubes but I'm well aware how pricey those oils are. I spent a whole semester once messing with them. The first time I did I didn't realize you can't just "wash" the paint off. Finally my teacher came around and asked why I was still in class before pointing out the turpentine to me. Took her long enough! lol

So thanks Ms. Lovelace for the 9 week painting lessons! They were a sweet kind of torture. My dad still has that silhouette sunset painting up in his office. :)

That's a life lesson for any artist there. So what you aren't getting it just right? Keep trying again, and again, and if you must, again!

Be looking for updates :)

Writer/Artist?

2 min read
So I'm having another writers spell. I keep jumping back and forth between sketches and my books, which is a good thing right? Healthy combination? That sort of thing?

Most creative people I know have their hands in more than one medium so to speak. You may be an artist, an actress, a singer, a songwriter, a sculptor, among other things!
I always envied my Dad because he's a concert pianist. And trust me when I tell you the man is brilliant, he's brilliant. He didn't even start lessons until he was eleven years old, but he advanced faster than should be possible. He's one of those rare people who have an insane drive to be better than everyone else.

Certainly I do what I do because I love it with a driving passion. But there's a difference between passion and high ambition. Growing up I always envied the fact he has one great talent, because he was able to throw himself into it. When you ask my Dad what his youth was like, he'll tell you a simple story. He woke up and practiced piano, went to school and came home and practiced piano. Then he ate dinner, watched black and white television, do homework and practiced piano. Afterwards he'd watch Dragnet and practice piano into the night. You get the picture!

But he's also been a carpenter and a salesman all his life lol. Just goes to show you can't pin anyone to one thing really. I guess that's one of the things God did to make us different from each other.

For those interested I've started a blog for my work, a compilation of what you can find here and links to my work, progress on new things. Have a look if you fancy!

Meanwhile, I'm dredging up the energy after work to actually do something productive tonight :)
Wish me luck!
